Bug Bash weekend started with an excellent open house at LaVere's VW Restoration in nearby Concord. Thank you to Gary and his crew for opening the doors and sharing the latest projects with all of us.
This year's Bug Bash special display was Type 3's, and the impressive lineup featured 18 Notchbacks, Squarebacks, Fastbacks and even a Type 343. Paul and Mike travelled from southern California (400+ miles each way) to participate in the Type 3 display, and Mike won the Long Distance Award. Vehicles at Bug Bash 2018 ranged from a rare, coachbuilt Hebmuller to tricked-out Syncro Vanagons, and everything in between.
Deutschland Drivers won the Club Partcipation Award for the second year in a row. This year we also had two great clubs select special awards, Straight Up Dubs and Deutschland Drivers. Both clubs gave their awards to very-deserving entries. Their were several swappers selling under the trees, and they looked busy throughout the day.
The end-of-the-day raffle was awesome with a Grand Prize of a complete Magna Spark Electronic Ignition kit from Honest Engine Midtown, thank you Al! Second prize was a Black Mamba Shifter from Vintage Speed, who came up from So Cal to display their products, thank you Ming. Lavere's donated a pair of $100 Gift Certificates, thank you Gary. Wolfsburg West, ISP West, Airmighty, Type 3 Army, Nor-Cal Treffen, Straight Up Dubs, Vintage Print, Tonik Cycles, Lakeport Show & Shine and Julio also donated to the raffle - thank you to all for your generosity and support of Bug Bash!
Last but defintely not least, thank you to those who worked hard to make this event happen - Marilee, Gen, Ken, Dusty, Ella, John, Aidan, Scott, and Chris. Without their help, this event would not have happened.
Please mark your calendars now for Bug Bash 2019, Sunday June 23!

This year's Bug Bash special display was Type 3's. There were 18 in the lineup. Thank you to all of those (including a couple of folks from So Cal) who made this display amazing with Notchbacks, Squarebacks, Fastbacks and even a Type 343!
